Sep 06, 2026We came for the beach and we got it !
Overall we had a good time . All the staff members were very friendly and welcoming and worked hard. Resort is small so easy to get everywhere. Drinks were good but less availability in the evenings. No 24/7 snack bar which is unusual for a 4 star resort. Beach was amazing, swam every day, all you need is water shoes and a snorkelling mask.Beach towels were always available. People also used kayaks and paddle boards.No lifeguards present just so you know even though the water gets deep unexpectedly and overall it is not shallow. Ice cream, coffee corner and popcorn were our favourite treats. BlueWater Grill was the best both for lunch and dinner, really enjoyed the food there. Everything worked in our room but occasional sewage smell was present and water in the shower was not very hot. Loved the iguanas and so many birds and orange cats. In the evening fire show was the best, also had some live music which was ok. Japanese restaurant was fun. Italian and Oceana the service was not the best: very long wait and food not that good. Location of the resort was very close to airport but going back the traffic was absolutely ridiculous for an island. Check in and check out were not that long but still required some form to be filled out by hand---redundant information collected. Buffet was mediocre , without much variety : the best things were fruits and cheeses and soup. For the value the price was expensive but was still a good experience.

Sep 05, 2026Beautiful beach and outdoors with room for improvement in food and rooms
We went to the Sunscape Curacao end of August to early September 2026. The beach is gorgeous, water is clear and very calm as there is a man-made barrier preventing rough waves. There was also great snorkeling with lots of fish to see. Our children had fun in the pools as well. The entertainment staff was very friendly and great with kids. The property is very walkable and overall pretty. We paid for sunclub. Unfortunately, our sunclub room had many issues. One of which was the air conditioning, which they were unable to fix. We were moved to a non sunclub room and the room we moved to also had issues and was quite run down. A few perks of the sunclub was that we had access to towels for the beach at anytime and we were able to have breakfast at the grill restaurant. Overall, the food experience was a bit disappointing. We did not like the buffet as there was not a great selection. We were happy that we were able to access the a la carte restaurants like the Bluewater grill and the Italian restaurant for dinners and the grill for breakfasts and lunches. There is also little selection of snacks at the café. With children, more selection for between meal snacks would have been helpful. There was a daily ice cream corner, which was nice. Overall, beach is gorgeous, outdoors was pretty, but rooms and food could be better.

Disappointed
Sunscape is disappointing if you are used to first class service…sunclub upgrade is very misleading..pool lounge chairs are no different than the rest of the resort. Lacked many of the things we have come to expect from other resorts for example…poolside drink and food service. The water pressure was terrible in our room …sometimes stopping completely during your shower and also going cold at times. Only 4 restaurants and some nights 1 of them are closed which caused a terrible wait at the other ones. If you are expecting great service pick a different resort.

I read most the reviews, believe the 1 star ratings. Place is nothing more than an expensive motel 6 with a beautiful beach. Staff doest’t care. Amanda did try her best but she didn’t want to step on anyone’s toes. I was supposed to have a rep making sure everything went well, that didn’t happen. Kenneth the bartender did a great job, Silvia as well for breakfast. Only recommended the beach and nothing else. Toilet over flushed was never fixed, sink did not drain. Had to use the public bathroom for about 5days. I do not recommend this place. Beautiful location but really needs a redo.

Médiocre
Very disappointing experience overall. The reception staff were generally unfriendly, rarely smiling, unhelpful and unfortunately not very competent. We had to change rooms three times during our stay because of several issues (shower not working, sliding glass door not closing, air conditioning barely cooling and extremely noisy, forcing us to sleep with earplugs). The hotel clearly needs major maintenance and renovation. The beds are not very comfortable, the pillows are poor quality, and while the rooms look reasonably clean at first glance, the details tell a different story. The minibar was also not refilled every day. The beach is by far the best part of the hotel: beautiful, spacious, plenty of sun loungers and lots of fish for snorkelling. We also loved seeing the iguanas, birds and cats around the resort. Unfortunately, there are very few loungers in the shade, and some guests reserve them from 7 a.m. despite this being against hotel rules, with no enforcement. The pools are quite small and not particularly clean. The buffet is limited and repetitive, with very few fresh fruits. Breakfast is fine for savoury options but extremely poor for sweet options — there wasn’t even jam. The Japanese restaurant was good, while the Italian and fish restaurants were decent but nothing exceptional. The most surprising part was when a team of managers arrived: suddenly the hotel was thoroughly cleaned, the pool showers were cleaned, someone was stationed at the outdoor toilets, the restaurant floor was constantly cleaned, and the buffet was much better. It clearly showed that the hotel can maintain higher standards when management is present — unfortunately, this was not the case during the rest of our stay. Overall, the beautiful beach is the main highlight, but unfortunately it is not enough to make up for the many issues.
