Peaceful Stay at The Bahia Principe Escape Samana

Very good experience at the Bahia Principe Escape Samana. Flew into Samana with Westjet under Sunwing Vacations. The transfer from the airport to the Bahia took around an hour and ten minutes. Check in was very quick as there wasn’t that many guests in this slow season. Front desk was helpful and always had smiles. The hotel itself is elevated from the coastline and offers stunning views to its patrons. There are two buildings , we stayed in an ocean view room with two queen beds. As per previous reviews, we can confirm the beds are pretty firm, but they are ok. The room was spacious and clean, air conditioning worked great. Washroom could have used a little maintenance, paint caulking, just small stuff. Mini fridge stocked with water only, could have used beer and soft drinks. We managed though, just went to Pool bar most of the time. Fernando was my best friend at hotel. He was always happy serving up drinks to me, my wife and daughter. The hotel is fairly well kept. It is in a beautiful spot and because of its’ elevation there are a few steps to get down to the beach. Most people under 75 shouldn’t have a problem, however those with mobility issues might. The beach is not that big, but big enough to be comfortable for many guests. It seems to be closed off from the mainland road, so only hotels guests. We swam every day. Sometimes it was a little rough, but not enough to scare us from going in. There was next to no seaweed on the beach and that was the real reason we went to Samana. This was a time of the terrible seaweed overtaking most Caribbean beaches. For those who like exploring/shopping the vicinity around their hotel, you'll need to take a taxi, because you can't walk there. Too far and too risky. There were only two à la carte restaurants operating at the time Las Olas and Don Pablo. Don Pablo had a good filet minion. The Buffet had a lot of variety and the food was much better than I thought we would get. Our Sunwing representative suggested we go to the ‘El Simon Waterfall’ excursion for $125 US each. We took a taxi instead, with ‘JOEL TAXI SAMANA AND EXCURSIONS’. For $100 US total, he took the three of us to the falls and Las Terranous, return trip. It was a scenic 85 minutes away, he waited the whole time while we’re at the falls. He arranged a guide who escorted us to the falls main entrance. it was a 30 minutes walk through the forest, for the price of a tip of your choosing. (No set fee, whatever you want to tip). The entrance fee at this falls was $2 US. $6 for the three of us. After the falls Joel, was there waiting to take us 'Las Terranous'. We spent a couple of hours having Lunch and shopping. Joel then took us back to the hotel. Save yourself some excursion money and use Joel’s service. Final comments: I believe we got some value for our money, Samana is very easy on the pocket book. There are small things that could use some attention but are not really worth mentioning. The only irritation for me was that I couldn't get my morning coffee before 7 am without having to impose on the very nice staff at the Buffet. I would go down around 6:30 am and ask for my 'cafe con lecce' and they were happy to oblige. (Of course I tipped) I would recommend this resort to couples or adults that are looking for some romantic quiet time away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life or in some case boredom of everyday life.

Very Good but can be excellent with a few adjustments.

We travelled to the Hotel July 2026 for 1 week. The pros and cons Pros: Service/Beach/Pool/Clean/Stunning Views/Tranquility/Romantic/Service and hospitality/Room was nice and well kept. Atmosphere was nice. Cons: Terrible wine/No Beach activities for kayaks etc/Food choice needs to be expanded/ limited wheelchair access. Too much Buffet-not enough a la carte. At times road noise can be heard.

    Very disappointed

My daughter and work friends visited this bahia samana. Pros Views Beach The lobby bar was good Only good front desk help was Rosa( she was amazing). The service in the buffet were amazing. Cons😡 Only buffet open for 5night stay😠 No working phone line so couldn't call to order food. Room wasn't clean. No help with bags on arrival. No one helped me and my daughter to our room. I stayed at bahia principe in Jamaica which was far better and I was very disappointed with my stay in samana.
