We decided to stay at Barceló Montelimar and experience it for ourselves, despite some of the negative reviews circulating online. Here’s a quick recap of our two-night stay, from Wednesday to Friday. Check-in & Front Desk: The front desk was not as informative as I would have liked. They basically gave us a map, showed us where our room was located, and provided the dining hours. My advice: keep the map! You’ll definitely benefit from having it throughout your stay. Food & All-Inclusive: The all-inclusive package was definitely a nice perk, and overall, we felt like we got our money’s worth. However, in my personal opinion, the food was mediocre. The menu seemed to stay pretty much the same, and my children ended up eating mostly rice and bread. There also weren’t many vegetarian options beyond salads and fruit. Room & Key Issues: One of our biggest frustrations was the room key. It kept malfunctioning, and we had to either take the bus or walk to reception six different times to have it reprogrammed. Thankfully, one of the front-desk clerks finally suggested sending someone from Facilities because, after that many attempts, there was clearly something wrong with the door itself. Once they addressed the actual problem, it was finally fixed. Our room was bungalow 217, and unfortunately, the room itself was another disappointment. The door was broken, the TV didn’t work, and the closet doors could barely open. The bathroom/shower area also looked very run-down. In my opinion, the pictures online don’t really reflect the current condition of the rooms. Beach & Pool: The beach is beautiful, and you can catch an amazing sunset. 🌅 However, the waves can get HUGE, so be careful! Once the waves picked up, my family and I decided to spend our time at the pool instead, and honestly, it was perfect. There are nearby bathrooms and a bar, so you have pretty much everything you need without having to leave the pool area. Spa: They also have a beauty salon and massage area. You do need to make an appointment. We decided to get a one-hour massage, and it was actually great! It cost us $40 USD, and we really enjoyed it. Snack Bar & Drinks: The snack bar is also included in the all-inclusive package unless you choose a different beer. We wanted Toña, which was an additional 80 córdobas per beer. Towels: Another frustrating experience was the lack of towels. Our bungalow was booked for four people, but we were only provided with two white bath towels and two brown pool towels. When I asked for two additional bath towels and two additional pool towels, it became such a hassle. Honestly, I felt a certain way about it because we paid $847 USD for two nights, and I don’t think asking for enough towels for four people should have been such a big issue. Overall: While there were definitely some positives—the beautiful beach, sunsets, pool, massages, and the convenience of the all-inclusive package—there were also quite a few things that disappointed us. For the price we paid, I expected a better-maintained room and better service. Unfortunately, based on our experience, I probably would not stay here again. I’m glad we decided to try it for ourselves rather than relying solely on the online reviews, because now we can honestly say that this was our personal experience at Barceló Montelimar.

We made a return visit to this hotel after 10 years. 10 years ago was our first vacation together overseas and this year was our mother in law first time vacation overseas . In both times we had a great stay but we would expect a better variety of food than 10 years ago considering the price which we paid now. Nicaragua offers a rich variety of traditional cuisine, fresh tropical fruits, locally produced cheeses. Considering the price guests pay for their experience these should be included to provide greater value and showcase the country's culture and culinary heritage
