Great short stay!
Outstanding stay and experience at the Casa Maat! We've been to the JW Marriott a few times but this is the first time we've stayed at Casa Maat. Staff could not have been more friendly, helpful, and accommodating. The Butler team, lounge staff, and housekeeping are all top notch. Highly recommend staying here and couldn't say enough about our positive experience!

Five stars —the service is what made this stay unforgettable.
Must note my husband and I are experienced world travelers. From the moment we arrived, we felt genuinely cared for. Montse, Antonio, Jesus, Abraham, Omar, and so many others on the team were exceptional. The level of attentiveness, warmth, and professionalism was remarkable without ever feeling forced. They seemed to anticipate what we needed before we even asked, and that kind of service is rare. The property itself is absolutely stunning and impeccably maintained. Every space felt immaculate, serene, and beautifully designed. For our first three days, the resort was incredibly quiet — almost dreamlike. As a couple escaping demanding jobs and a very busy life, it was exactly what we were hoping for: peaceful, elegant, restorative, and wonderfully removed from everything. Breakfast was very good and something we looked forward to each morning. Dinner was pleasant, though this is probably the one area where there is room to elevate the experience. Nothing was bad; the food simply felt a little plain compared with how exceptional the rest of the resort was. Friends of ours dined at the neighboring sister property and raved about the restaurants there, particularly Artisan, although those dining options come at an additional cost. Toward the weekend, a couple of families arrived with children. I had originally been under the impression that the property was adults-only, so that was a little unexpected. That said, the families were very respectful , so it did not take away from our experience. One detail that really speaks to the level of service: I accidentally left my airport travel dress behind after checkout, and when I called the concierge team went out of their way to help coordinate an Uber so the dress could be retrieved and delivered to me. They handled it so graciously and made what could have been a stressful situation incredibly easy. Overall, our experience was wonderful. The setting is beautiful, the property is spotless, the atmosphere is peaceful, and the service is truly outstanding. The staff made us feel welcomed, relaxed, and cared for throughout our stay. We topped everyone at the end , amazing people ! This is the kind of place where the people and the gorgeous property make the difference — and because of the service this was absolutely a five-star stay for us. We would gladly return.

Honest review from people who really aren’t that picky
First I want to preface that we went in August and it was clearly slow season. So perhaps the things we didn’t like were due to low occupancy. And perhaps the things we did like were also do to low occupancy. Who knows. SUMMARY REVIEW (for those who like just highlights) Pros…… AMAZING service; beautiful/clean property; quiet romantic atmosphere; no towel games; complimentary beer, wine and soda throughout the day; Good food at JW; The whole atmosphere is elevated and relaxing. Cons….. No Air conditioning in public spaces; Mediocre included food. DETAILED REVIEW (for those who want to know everything) Again…remember we went in Aug. Pros……in Detail Service: OMG…these employees go above and beyond. Shout outs to our Butlers Jesus, Ricardo and Dassaed….especially Dassaed who kept getting me buckets of ice each evening. Room attendant Monserrat did an amazing job at keeping everything clean and tidy. Pool/Lounge/Meal servers…these people are super stars. Luis really hustled with chair set ups each day and really went above and beyond, constantly adjusting the umbrellas to ensure we had shade. Antonio, Zitlali, Monsi and Adrian made sure we were never thirsty or hungry. Property/Pool: The pool was amazing, overlooking the ocean. Pool loungers were plentiful and easy to get without playing the towel game. There were only 4 or 5 other couples there at any given time and only a couple of children. You could go down any time of the day and easily get a cushioned chair and umbrella. Chairs were quite comfortable. Atmosphere was peaceful and quiet (no music or entertainment at all). We had our own speaker which we played quietly, and nobody complained. Included Drinks: It was nice to have some drinks included. They offered beer, wine and soft drinks throughout the day. You could purchase specialty drinks for an additional cost if you asked. We were fine with the included drinks. In the evening they offered premium drinks from 6-8pm. These were better quality than what is offered during the daytime. I enjoyed my lemon drop martinis. Rooms are spacious and well maintained. The AC worked well in the room (most of the days…one day there was a temporary power outage that took out AC for a few hours). Food: Food offerings on the JW side of the resort were of very good quality. We loved everything we ate at UA Culinary (we had 3 meals here, 2 breakfast and 1 lunch…yummy eggs benedict, and my hubby loved their shrimp ceviche). Dolce was a standout server. At Marhumo we had dinner twice…highly recommend trying the JW Signature Pina Colada and the surf and turf appetizer. Manuel x 2 and Jesus were amazing servers at Marhuma; At Niparaya JW Bar we had one dinner which was also good. All restaurants at JW were good quality 9/10. Keep in mind these offerings are all additional expense and not included with Casa Maat. But they were worth the cost. Offite Cons…….in Detail NO AIR CONDITIONING: The biggest con here is the lack of air conditioning in public spaces such as the lounge, restaurants, game room and gym. I mean NONE. This applied to both Casa Maat and JW. They had occasional fans distributed, but that is a poor attempt at compensating for no AC. In August it was miserably hot and humid. It is hard to believe a hotel of this level does not have air conditioning in public areas. The only areas that were air conditioned were guest rooms. For reference, we are from Arizona so we are very used to very high heat, higher than this. But when you add humidity to 95 degrees….that’s a whole other level of heat. It forced us to either be in our room or in the pool. There was nothing else to do on property that was tolerable in August heat. How can you operate a gym with no AC? Included Food: Casa Maat is semi-all inclusive. The food here is mediocre at best. I’m speaking on the included food at Casa. Sadly, its school cafeteria quality. Breakfast options here were OKAY with made to order eggs or omelets, fruits and cereals and select smoothies. It wasn’t a great breakfast, but it did the job. Overall, I give breakfast a 6/10. The lunch offerings were pathetic. I’d rate this 2/10. They offered mini sandwiches, petite fours, fish ceviche and guacamole with chips. The sandwiches were ridiculous. You got a single thin slice of meat and/or cheese on a slider sized roll. For example, you’d get one slice of salami. If you wanted a decent sized sandwich you’d have to grab 3 or 4, disassemble them and put the collected meat and cheese onto one roll. Then you’d have a mediocre slider sized sandwich. The ceviche and guac were also average and lukewarm every time. (Ceviche served at UA culinary, for purchase, was by far more superb). Dinner at Casa Maat was not much better, also 2/10. There was a ‘theme menu’ nightly. Our first attempt at this was taco night. The appetizer was beans, which ended up being a bean soup. Let me tell you…this was just beans boiled in water. No seasoning at all and nothing else in the broth except black beans. The street tacos were also disappointing. My hubby got al pastor and said they were horrible and fatty. I got the birria, which was very oily and had little flavor. I added massive amounts of salsa and toppings to get some flavor. We ended up going next door to get more to eat because this just didn’t cut it for us. Overall opinion on the food: huge disappointment. I think Casa Maat would be better off putting more effort into a better breakfast and provide better ‘included’ drinks during the day and lowering the room rate a bit. Skip the mediocre lunch and dinner just for the appearance of semi-inclusive. It’s not worth the pitiful effort that was put into the food. Rather, they could pass around menus so people can just order from JW for delivery at an extra cost. I would rather pay less for the room and order from JW than eat what was offered at Casa. Maybe the time of year had something to do with it. I don’t know. We just were not impressed with food. It’s wasted effort and leaves a bad impression when it’s low quality. And we’re not foodies by any means. Drinks: Not one drink was served cold. Most were mildly chilled. I think they only use mini fridges for their cooling needs. Mini fridges don’t cool well enough. If you add ice, your drink was watered down in minutes because ice mixed with lukewarm beverages melts fast in 90 degrees. I know this sounds picky but at a hotel of this price point you expect a cold beverage on a hot day. Pool: The pool was missing a few tiles and some were continuing to fall off. However, this problem was WAY worse over at the JW pools. Since we were there during their slow season we were surprised they were not doing anything to maintain these issues. We’ve been to other Mexico properties that actively repair even when people are in the pool. Casa and JW desperately need to make repairs to their pools. Entertainment: They had a live musician at dinner every night for 2 hours but that was it. There was nothing, NOTHING to do at Casa Maat, nor JW. They did have a game room with pool tables, ping pong and other games and game tables. But you couldn’t use it. It was easily 100 degrees in there. The lounge was too hot to endure in the evenings as well. We ended up just playing games in our room each night. Bottom line: Would we return…maybe…if the price was right and it wasn’t mid August. Their peaceful atmosphere, amazing views and top-notch customer service are the reasons I would return.

We Found New "Go-To" Cabo Resort. Sense of Intimate Exclusive Luxury with Casa Maat!
Casa Maat nestled within the JW Marriott Cabo San Jose truly provides a sense exclusivity within their luxurious facilities and expert staff. Having enjoyed the JW Marriott a number of times in the past this was our first experience with Casa Maat and it was perfect. Booking/Coordination. Booking via the Bonvoy website, for us provided the best cancellation and room rate. Any pre-coordination was done via e-mail which frankly was slow and in some cases failed to achieve our request but always friendly and revealed to be the only real negative with our overall fantastic experience. Check-in. We coordinated transportation separately but we were dropped off at the JW Marriott and were warmly greeted and transported to the Casa Maat check-in via golf cart. Check-in was minimalist and very expeditious. We were given a nice overview of the room and facilities Room. We booked the Taypa Suite which appears to be a one of a kind “Junior Suite” and really is just a “double-wide” oceanfront room over the lounge. That said it is wider and deeper than the Deluxe Guest room. The room is likely worth the extra (which was not much) so if it is available when we book in the future we would book it but the Deluxe rooms are very nice and amenity-wise and view, they are very similar. These are the “oceanfront” rooms (not including the luxury suites) so the view looks over the Mayma Lounge and pool area to the ocean. Although we enjoyed it, depending on your floor some may feel “exposed” to the other guests when in your room or on your balcony. The decoration is very similar to JW Marriott so modern with moody earth finish. The natural light is limited so don’t think, “light and airy” but still awesome. Facilities. Casa Maat is a resort within a resort so all the facilities of the JW Marriott main campus like three pools, the spa, fitness center are available to you. Exclusive to the Casa Maat guests is the pool in front of the Casa Maat main building (there is a key card gate between the properties). It is a very nice pool and hot tub with cabanas and lounge chairs. A note: Casa Maat is not adults only and although during our visit most of the kids were well behaved, you will rely on the parenting of others when it comes to the kids behavior around the pool and common areas. Not a bad size but it wouldn’t take much to make your paradise feel like a kiddy pool. That said, there is an adult pool nearby on the JW Marriott side if that happens to you. Dining. Exclusive to Casa Maat is the Mayma Lounge. Similar to a Ritz Carleton or Intercontinental Ambassador club they really offer an elevated club experience with included breakfast, lunch, and dinner options along with snack and drink options throughout the day. Located on the pool level it has indoor and outdoor seating option and exclusive to Casa Maat guests. Breakfast is a very nice a la carte and buffet. Lunch is a light “grazing” option. Dinner is a simple set menu option. Although we did not take advantage of the dinner service, breakfast and lunch options were always tasty and well prepared. Included beer and wine are available throughout the day and they have a cocktail hour for complimentary cocktails which was a very nice perk. Around the pool these same services are available along with ability to order from the same lunch menu available at JW Marriott side but of course not included. For dinner, excepting the Mayma Lounge, all the restaurants are on the JW Marriott side. I am going to skip detailed reviews as we have visited them on previous trips but in short….. MarHumo Baja has upped their atmosphere a bit providing a more moody and intimate lighting over our previous visit. On this visit they had a set menu and did not offer the a la carte menu which was unexpected and a bit disappointing. The set menu was a hit for one of us, meh for one, and a miss for another. Finally a small breakdown in service that had one of the courses being delivered a bit cold. We had a better experience last time. Cafe des Artistes is their fine dining option and continues to live up to its solid reviews with excellent preparation of high-end ingredients and stellar service in a beautiful dining room. We always enjoy the tasting menu and this visit did not disappoint. Not to be missed. Staff. The best of facilities and perks are nothing without a staff to bring it to life and Casa Maat has it. A smaller resort within a larger resort the number of dedicated staff is smaller and therefore feels more intimate and familiar. These professionals quickly learn your names and preferences elevating your stay to a luxury personalized experience. From concierge to servers, all are experts in their craft and give the sense they genuinely want you to have the best experience possible. Casa Maat does not have “butlers” however the concierge team is very quick to coordinate anything you need utilizing WhatsApp. Although less personal than a dedicated butler, the team is small so pretty much the same thing. A couple of folks that really stood out amongst a team of experts: Luis making everything happen around the pool. Adrian a pool server seemed to be everywhere at once ensured our drink never went empty. Anahi was a mind reader at breakfast, elevating a simple breakfast service to one of our favorite meals of the day. Thank you to all the experts at Casa Maat, hope to see you all again soon! Tips. Always a personal choice and highly contested, we opt to tip. A majority U.S. clientele, I would argue it has U.S. tip culture, like it or not. We did a mix of transactional USD cash tips and “tip line” tips. I did not confirm but my assumption for “tip line” is it will be shared across a full staff. There are a number of cases (like breakfast) when there is no check and that is when cash was king. I did notice some checks had a service charge but not all of them, so I adjusted tip line contribution accordingly. Staff were always gracious, not expecting it, but appreciating it. Membership/Loyalty Program. Bonvoy. Of course all benefits of status are honored but as club/lounge access is already baked-in and very few options for upgrade as we booked the only non-premium suite, being a Platinum really just got us the points boost and a “thanks!" JW Marriot Cabo is an excellent resort but Casa Maat nestled within really did take our experience to the next level. Although there are fewer room choices we really enjoyed the exclusivity of the Mayma Lounge, pool, and small dedicated staff. We will certainly be back!

Nothing special in this place as it advertise
Lounge servers are all excellent, but reception desk staff not so much. Generally indifferent reaction at check in and check out. No recognition/appreciation of a lifetime platinum member. Found a huge bug in the bathroom, no apologies no recognition of the gross event. Nadal.Lounge servers are all excellent, but the reception desk staff not so much. I actually got sick at the end of the stay. We moved to the 2nd floor to be next to other family members on the second day (called and emailed twice to request our rooms to be close to each other after booking 3 rooms, but it didn'thappen when we checkedin). There were bird droppings all over the patio to the oceanside...the worst Marriott experience. Finally, Maria (with an indifferent expression during our visit) checked out with wrong charges.
