    Nice resort but could be so much better

    Just got back from 2 weeks here. The good:- Beautiful resort, amazing tropical vibe teeming with wildlife. Huge resort but frequent buggies make it easy to get around. As many a la carte bookings made sure that dinner was varied. Bars were great. Dont miss Churchills for the best cocktails. Wendy from the coffee shop is fantastic, and the coffee shop is a really nice addition and the pastries and desserts are delicious. The pizza stop is also really nice and our son enjoyed fresh pizza each lunch time. Sports facilities are excellent but too hot for us to use in August. The bad. We travelled with two young teens under the impression that there was lots for them to do here. There isnt! The teen club was non existent and full of grown men playing pool. When we questioned this the team said 'its more of a family hangout'. We tried to take our son to a scheduled teen activity at ths sports centre but no teen club staff member arrived. Bracelet making happened, but they were missing loads of letters to make words on the bracelets and they just left the stuff they did have in a corner and let them get on with it. Lack of daytime atmosphere. We understand that it is supposed to be a more upmarket vibe but there is ZERO pool games. Only aqua aeronics each day. If you like a bit of pool engagement and fun games this is NOT the resort. The resort is huge and despite maintenance working hard it is pretty shabby in places. There are lots of chipped tiles in the colonial pool leading to cut feet. Eventually our daughter started wearing swim shoes in the pool. We also noticed fungus growing on the kids loungers next to the kids club. Tier system and amenities. Large sections of the resort were closed for the entire time we were there, we assume due to low occupancy. These included La Dahlia (open for breakfast closed for dinner) meaning that if you wanted to eat in the buffet for dinner you had to go to the colonial. Poseidon restaurant, another white sands perk, closed the entire time. Las Olas at the colonial. Le petit chef (paid for extra) also closed. We also noticed lots of guests with Colonial bracelets using White Sands facilities so seemed unnecessary to spend more on booking white sands. Difficult to get water. You need to queue at the bar for water, the resort could do with fridges dotted around for guests to help themselves.

    The Grand Palladium Resort, Cancun is a special place. The site is beautiful and very well maintained with lots of amazing wildlife. The staff are all incredibly friendly and helpful. The food and drink offer is top quality and offers a lot of choice. We’ve been twice in the last year and will definitely be going back!
