Things to Know

  • Bermuda is the perfect place to go for a quick vacation escape...only 2 hours from most east coast gateways! What could be better?

This resort is nestled amid 21 acres of beautifully landscaped, oceanfront grounds. Lush, manicured property features 3 private beaches and some of Bermuda's most protected ocean waters. Attractions include a large freeform pool, boats and other water sports gear, and snorkeling/diving on a wreck near the beach.

Appreciating the underground caves is not just for swimmers. Enjoying their beauty is possible from wood benches terraced into the walls.

Grotto Bay Beach Resort also features a 100-yard pink-sand beach that runs along the ocean, supplying sunbathing on lounge chairs and swimming in a calm bay. Had high hopes but disapponting

Nice location but thats about it. Let me start by saying that we waited at the beachside restaurant for 1 hr before we received glasses of water at our table. We did not receive our other drinks for another thirty minutes and still another thirty minutes for our meal. We waited over an hour and a half for our meal. The service was appalling. The kicker is that there is a 17% service charge built into the bill which we would not have minded paying for even average service. Later on in the day they had run out of towels twice at the beach and the bar staff makes you feel like you are annoying them by asking for service. Was really looking forward to coming here and although the front desk staff is wonderful , other very important areas of this resort are sorely lacking. Would not recommend.

Great family stay – beautiful location with a few things to improve

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Great family stay – beautiful location with a few things to improve We recently stayed at Grotto Bay Beach Resort as a family of four and overall had a really enjoyable holiday. The location is fantastic, especially when travelling with children. ✈️ Location: The hotel is really close to the airport, which was brilliant after a long journey. It meant we were at the resort and relaxing very quickly! 🏊‍♀️ Pool & beach: The pool is a great size, although unfortunately ours wasn’t as clean as we would have expected and it actually stained our swimwear yellow all over. Some quite expensive items were ruined, so definitely speak to the hotel straight away if you notice this happening , I unfortunately didn’t raise it until we had already left. The beach, however, was fantastic! There were loads of areas to sit, and the inflatable water activities were great fun for both the kids and adults. We loved that we could still swim in the sea after 7pm while it was light ,such a lovely way to spend the evening. 🌊 The caves: These were one of our favourite parts of the resort. They’re so interesting and really cool to swim in. I also had a massage in the caves, which was such a unique experience , I’ve never done anything like it before and absolutely loved it! 🍳 Food: Breakfast was fab. The buffet had plenty of choice and the eggs were consistently brilliant! We hardly ever had to wait, although the weekends were understandably busier. Lunch at the pool bar was also really good, with plenty of choice and everything we had was tasty. The BBQ nights were definitely a highlight. There were two during our stay and they were fantastic , definitely worth going to! Dinner in the main restaurant was more mixed. The food was okay, but the service was extremely slow on the evenings we ate there. We found that so much of the evening was spent waiting, and I think having a quicker/easier dining option would make a big difference, especially for families with children. 🍹 Drinks: The cocktails were really good and everything we tried tasted great. The Piña Coladas were my favourite , although that’s definitely just my opinion! 😂 The rooftop bar/lounge has gorgeous views during the day and is a lovely place to sit and take everything in. In the evening, though, the service could be quite slow. 🍸 Staff: Most of our interactions were absolutely fine, but unfortunately we did experience some bar staff being quite rude and, at times, unnecessarily aggressive. This was upsetting and definitely took away from the experience on those occasions. 🛏️ Rooms: The rooms are a little snug for four people, but we managed perfectly well. They are starting to look a little tired and could definitely benefit from some TLC, but they were clean and functional. Our room was cleaned every day and we had fresh towels, which was great. ☀️ Sunbeds & towels: We never had an issue getting towels or finding somewhere to sit. There always seemed to be something available, particularly down on the beach. 👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Families: We were given a leaflet when we arrived explaining everything included in our package, which was really useful. The all-inclusive package also included a free bus/ferry pass, which was a fantastic bonus and made getting around Bermuda much easier. One thing to be aware of if you have very young children — the resort has quite a lot of hills and steps, so it’s probably not the easiest place for a pushchair. ⭐️ Overall We had a really fun family holiday at Grotto Bay. The beach, caves, activities, cocktails and BBQ nights were definite highlights, and the location was perfect for us. There are certainly areas that could do with some improvement, particularly the pool cleanliness, restaurant service and the attitude of a few staff members, but there is so much to enjoy here. For us, the beautiful setting and unique caves were what really made Grotto Bay special, and we came away with some lovely memories.

    Amazing experience at Natura Spa!

We visited Natura Spa at Grotto Bay Resort for their signature massage. It was a phenomenal experience! The massage therapists were great, the atmosphere in a cave was one of a kind, and we can’t wait to return next time we visit Bermuda! Highly recommend this very unique experience!

    Definitely worth a visit!

Very nice resort. Pros:The all inclusive package is a must!!! Worth every penny! Cathedral cave on the resort is beautiful. Take a dip in the cold water ! So peaceful. The beach although small is sandy and the water is great. Plenty of lounge chairs. Food was consistently good and wait staff is super friendly. Cons: the pool could use some maintenance. Very cloudy and missing tiles. Bathrooms tiny and no minimal shelf/counter space . Grounds could use more maintenance as well. Empty cups /dishes left in walkways. Could use music at the beach for a vacation vibe. Note: this resort is built into a hill. If you book oceanfront you must walk up to restaurants and if you book ocean view you must walk down to the beach pool and lunch restaurant. Just be prepared to walk up and down hill! Overall the pros and short flight from NY makes this resort a winner!

COCKROACH & ANTS in bathroom — not clean

The bathroom in our room was extremely small and was NOT clean or well-maintained. The situation became much worse when I encountered a Cockroach in the bathroom. I watched it go into the bathroom sink drain. I had to go to the front desk multiple times to report the issue and ask for help. The response from the front desk was extremely dismissive. Rather than taking the concern seriously or having someone inspect the bathroom, I was repeatedly told that the hotel’s solution was simply to spray. I wanted a thorough inspection. What was frustrating was being told that the Cockroach could not have come from the drain and that this is simply something that happens on tropical islands because of the climate. I have traveled to many tropical islands and understand that insects can exist in tropical environments. This is also not my first time in Bermuda, and I have never experienced anything like this on previous visits. Using “it’s a tropical island” as an explanation does not excuse the lack of cleanliness or the way the concern was handled. -Breakfast buffet was not good Pros: - Thursday seafood BBQ was great -Loved the cave
