    Wonderful experience at Iberostar, again!

This is our fourth time at an Iberostar resort in the Caribbean, and once again, we had a wonderful experience. The food was absolutely delicious—we enjoyed meals at La Ventana, Cozumel, Cedral, and à la carte at La Pagoda; everything was exquisite. We decided to eat only cooked food to be cautious, and there were always plenty of tasty options. On a couple of days, the beef was a bit tough (the knife wouldn't cut it), but there were so many other dishes to enjoy that it was never a problem. The staff truly made our stay special: everyone was so kind, knowledgeable, and always eager to help. We especially remember Jesus at La Ventana and Ruth from housekeeping, but wish we could recall all the other wonderful team members who made our visit fabulous. We noticed that waiters at formal restaurants wore long-sleeve uniforms, and we were wondering whether they could use short sleeves, as the weather is really hot even at night. The resort itself is beautifully maintained; the AC was a lifesaver in the August heat, and we loved seeing the local wildlife—we spotted iguanas, parrots, bats, and even an armadillo! Snorkeling was a highlight. We went with Dressel Divers International, who were punctual, had a great ship and equipment, and treated everyone with patience, especially less experienced swimmers. Flavio and the whole crew were fantastic, and we would happily choose them again for future trips. All in all, we had an amazing time and are already looking forward to coming back!

Frustrating stay and will not go back

Check-in nightmare: The price we confirmed at booking was not honored on arrival. Staff spent an hour and a half trying to upsell us on a room upgrade we never asked for, and only backed down after we pushed back — at which point we were given one of the worst-located rooms in the resort with a poor view, seemingly as a consequence of not caving to the upsell. Restaurants never matched the app: Restaurant hours listed in the resort app were consistently wrong. When we asked staff for clarification, they often didn’t know the correct hours either, which made planning meals frustrating. Concierge steered us toward a scam: We asked the concierge for help booking a tequila tasting, and they recommended a company with numerous reviews warning it was a scam. We’d strongly encourage other guests to double-check any outside excursion recommended by staff before booking. Food was subpar across the resort, and honestly, very little of what we were told — by resort staff, concierge, even local taxi drivers — turned out to be accurate. It made the whole trip feel like we couldn’t trust the information we were given. The one bright spot: The lobby bar. Drinks were fresh and the selection was solid — genuinely the only part of the stay we’d praise. Overall, 2/5 stars, and that’s generous given how much of the trip felt like miscommunication, upselling, and misinformation.
