Water park – As previously shared, our Water Park continues to operate seamlessly, boasting an array of 13 monster slides, four splash pad slides, two lazy rivers, and a range of pool amenities. The response from our guests has been overwhelmingly positive. Due to external factors, particularly unusual weather conditions in the region, the completion of the final monster water slide has experienced a necessary extension. To address this, we have proactively rescheduled its availability for our mutual clients to October 15th.

Sep 06, 2026Awful experience- this resort ruined a family celebration and it was heartbreaking!
Awful resort - don’t stay here. The service is terrible, the food is trash, and the people who work here are rude and do not know how to treat guests. The rooms were not cleaned at check in or during our stay, wild raccoons are all over the property and there is no way you can feel safe at the resort. Stay away!

Firstly, Mexico is a wonderful holiday destination and Cancun is no exception — stunning scenery, warm weather, and genuinely lovely people. Go. Just don’t stay here. Book the Paradisus instead, and thank yourself later. The good 1. Staff across most of the hotel are friendly, welcoming and hard-working. 2. Rooms are clean and well maintained 3. The coffee shop near reception has good coffee 4. The house red is perfectly drinkable 5. Big shout out to Don Joel and Paco at Nexus Tours — not part of the hotel, but brilliant The bad 1. Food & drink — the standout failure across both the buffet and restaurants. The buffet prioritises volume over quality (the scrambled egg comes from a bottle), and food waste is outrageous and unacceptable. The Mexican restaurant is, bafflingly, the worst on site. The French restaurant advertises itself as adult-only but isn’t. The steakhouse turned us away at 9.15pm with empty tables visible. Room service is essentially non-existent — orders routinely take over 1-2 hours, and when you chase, staff are outright rude. One order placed at 11.30pm arrived at 1.55am. If you can’t run room service, don’t advertise it — and don’t call yourself five stars. 2. Pool & beach — loungers are gone by 7am to towel-claimers, with no management of the situation whatsoever. Beach cabanas are never available to guests (unless you want to pay minimum $170 daily) despite appearing perpetually unoccupied, with security actively patrolling to enforce this. The sea itself is thick with seaweed, though the hotel does clear the sand reasonably well. 3. Practicalities — no bottled water outside your room unless you’re Diamond Club, in 32-degree heat where tap water isn’t advisable. Taxis from the resort run to $120 one way, despite only being roughly $20 return. The gift shop charges $40 for sun cream and $10 for a packet of crisps. You can only reserve a table in the bar if you purchase wine for an additional charge. 4. Feedback ignored — filled in somewhere between five and seven feedback forms over the stay. Not one was acted upon. Save your time. Tips if you do go anyway: 1. Bring plenty of dollars for tips — the day staff and cleaners work hard and deserve them 2. Pack your own sun cream and plenty of it so you don’t get ripped off 3. Bring a refillable water bottle if not diamond club 4. Skip the Diamond Club upgrade — it’s not worth the premium Overall, we wouldn’t recommend this hotel or stay here again. We have been to Mexico 3 times now and this is the worst hotel we’ve stayed in by far. You will constantly be hounded for upsell (wine, sun loungers, spa, food upgrades in restaurant, the list goes on). Unfortunately this will be the last time we will stay at a Royalton having stayed in multiple across various Caribbean locations.

Excellent hotel accommodation. Top notch materials: Porelanosa tile and bath fixtures. From the butler service to the cleaning crew, cannot thank them enough for their hard work and big smiles. Above all, I had an amazing interaction with a bartender ( Antonio) at the Diamond Club bar next to the beach. He made the most delicious cocktails and service was nothing but excellent. Must come and experience Mexico with “Royalton Splah”

Great resort
Alex and Ricardo were our butlers and they were very kind and attentive. I will definitely come back. All the stuff at the facilities were very nice and helpful. All the amenities are cleaned and well maintained. The bracelet thing feels like a scam because it's poorly attached, 2 out of 3 came undone and 1 of it got lost and we had to pay 150 because of someone's mistake.
