What We Love

  • It's small, and privately owned, so you'll be spoiled and you can easily get around the resort.
  • The rooms - boho chic with either ocean, pool or garden views from your own Private Idaho private balcony.
  • The oh-so British afternoon tea. You'll feel so freakin' royal.
  • Karma Spa that offers ice baths for detoxing and purification.
  • Creche/nursery for your babies and Teen club for your zesty adolescents.

Things to Know

  • It's only 15 short minutes from the airport and located in the UNESCO World Heritage Site. Woo hoo!
  • The capital, Bridgetown, is just 10 minutes away.
  • If you want to get hitched, you can get the Sugar & Spice Wedding Package. It's dreamy.
  • The Mount Gay Rum Factory is near. Gotta get a taste of this.
  • The George Washington House, the South Coast Boardwalk and the Garrison Savannah Horseracing track are just a short hop away.
With a backdrop of tangerine and lime bungalows, you sit (drink in hand) on a sugar white beach staring at a peaceful, deliciously blue lagoon. The next thought is a tough one: where to dine for dinner? Sushi or steak? International or pizza? But you're in no rush to decide. You've still got hours of beach bliss to go.

This is the paradise you've been waiting for.

    Perfect Honeymoon

We spent 10 nights at Sugar Bay for our honeymoon and absolutely loved everything about this place. Firstly, the beach is magnificent. The rock formations create a calmer lagoon for swimming and lounging, although the current can get very strong in the afternoon. There was always plenty of seating to choose from, either a covered cabana or loungers in the sun. The pool was also lovely, with a full service swim-up bar, and very comfortable poolside lounge beds. That said, if you don’t have kids and you’re looking for a quieter environment, it is probably best to go to the beach. The food was AMAZING. While there are not many options for dining, that did not create any problems whatsoever. The Reef Restaurant (buffet) was always loaded with delicious meal choices, especially for dinner which has a different cuisine highlight every night. The specialty restaurants were very good, although UMI was a standout. Further, as someone with a handful of allergies/food sensitivities, I was always well looked after by restaurant staff who ensured that I never went without high quality meals. The drinks at the bars are all delicious, especially the frozen blended drinks. The bartenders were friendly and knowable and were able to make anything you wanted. They also served iced coffees throughout the day. The rooms were spotless and staff paid close attention to detail and requests. We had a pool view room with a beautiful back patio equipped with lounge beds as well as a table and chairs. Finally, this trip would not have been as wonderful as it was without the staff who made the atmosphere one of a kind. It is a small, family-owned resort, and you definitely feel that the moment you get settled in. Special shoutouts to Akiel, Shaquan, Nathaniel, Leann, and Rachel who all went above and beyond to make everyone at the resort feel welcome and taken care of in every way. They’re all kind and funny, in addition to being excellent at what they do. Thank you Sugar Bay for making our honeymoon so special! We will be back!

    Wonderful Family Vacation

We recently spent a family vacation at Sugar Bay and had such a wonderful time! We absolutely loved Barbados and had a great experience overall at the resort. The staff at Sugar Bay were warm, friendly, and welcoming throughout our stay. The beach is beautiful, with gorgeous water and plenty of space to relax. There are a few rocky areas, but we found them completely manageable without water shoes. One of the biggest surprises for us was the food. For an all-inclusive resort, where food can sometimes be just average, we thought the food at Sugar Bay was genuinely very good—well above what we expected. There was a nice variety, and we really enjoyed our meals. The drinks were also good, with some definitely stronger than others! Even the house wine was surprisingly enjoyable. The rooms were comfortable, clean, and pleasant. They aren’t luxurious, but they are perfectly nice and had everything we needed for a relaxing vacation. The one area that we found disappointing was the pool. It’s a nice size, but the water often looked a little murky and didn’t appear as clean as we would have liked. I personally didn’t spend much time there because I prefer the beach, although my nephew really enjoyed the pool. Overall, we had a fantastic family vacation at Sugar Bay. It’s a beautiful resort with a wonderful beach, genuinely friendly staff, and surprisingly good food. We would absolutely return and would definitely recommend Sugar Bay to anyone looking for a fun, relaxing all-inclusive experience in Barbados!.

Excellent Experience - Will be back!!

I usually don't write reviews, but I rely heavily on them when booking vacations, so I wanted to share my experience. We had an excellent stay at Sugar Bay Barbados, and because of such a wonderful experience, we will definitely be back! Barbados has always been one of my favorite destinations, but it had been over 20 years since my last visit. It was amazing to return to this beautiful island. One of the highlights of our stay was the all-inclusive experience. The food was outstanding, with plenty of variety, and we never felt like we were eating the same meals twice. The restaurants, including the buffet, Asian restaurant, and steakhouse, all offered delicious food and excellent service. The bar staff truly made our trip special. A special shoutout to Ms. Joan, Ms. Helen, Nathaniel, Akeil and Ajani for their exceptional hospitality and friendly service. We were pleasantly surprised by the nightly entertainment. The performers were incredibly talented, and it was a wonderful way to experience the local culture. The entire staff was welcoming, helpful, and always had a positive attitude. The room was spacious and very clean. Another shout out to our cleaning staff member, Johanna. She kept our room spotless and was extremely accommodating. The resort also offers water sports, which the kids thoroughly enjoyed. The beach was clean, and the crystal-clear water was absolutely breathtaking every day. Overall, we had an amazing time and highly recommend Sugar Bay Barbados. We can't wait to return!
